Towels Could Be a Bacterial Hive

Towels Could Be a Bacterial Hive

In this day and age is there still one who only has one towel for one family? Or already have your own but never replaced? Do you know your usual towel after bathing or hand washing could be a nest of bacteria? A study says, towels can be an ideal place for developing bacteria. Waah how come yaa? ....? 😟

Bacteria can be anywhere, whether it's in our skin, in the tap water, water bath, even in the water there are bacteria. But we certainly can not see it with the naked eye. Take a look every time we wear a towel, it will be contaminated with our skin which is not necessarily clean after a shower or wash hands and water that is still attached to our skin also does not close the possibility contain bacteria. Then after we use it and we do not dry it, of course the towel remains wet and damp and will be a place that is very preferred bacteria to breed. Environmental health expert Professor Marilyn C. Robert of the University of Washington says "towels are preferred by bacteria because they are moist and close to humans. These problems are the same as sponges. When long wet, bacteria are easy to develop.Bacteria like moisture and do not like dry places , The bathroom area in this case is generally always humid ". Quoted from Medical Daily, Tuesday (31/1/2017).

Towels Could Be a Bacterial Hive
A study conducted by researchers at the University of Arizona in 2013 saw that 25.6% of towels could store Escherica coli bacteria associated with cases of food poisoning and diarrhea. Escherichia coli, or commonly abbreviated as E. coli, is one of the main species of gram negative bacteria. In general, the bacteria discovered by Theodor Escherich can be found in the human colon. Most E. coli are harmless, but some, such as E. Coli type O157: H7, can lead to serious food poisoning in humans ie bloody diarrhea due to the resulting exotoxin called verotoxin.

Therefore always remember stelah using a towel dried in place with good sunlight so as not to lemab and wash periodically. Home health and hygiene expert, Maeve Richmond, recommend that towels should be replaced after 3-4 times worn. Wash towels with warm water to ensure more bacteria are eliminated. And it is also advisable not to share towels with others meskipu with family. The reason, because someone else may have an unknown infectious skin disease. If the towel is torn or stained, immediately replace with a new towel. Because over time the absorption of the towel will be reduced and make a longer damp towel and will be a hotbed of bacteria and fungi harmful. A little advice on buying a towel, choose a towel with a good absorbency.
